Intertwined with mankind for 12,000 years and in 2016 recognized by UNESCO as intangible heritage,

the craftmanship of basketry is nowadays but one peripheral phenomenon in our society.

The vocational college of wickerwork in Lichtenfels, Bavaria does not only preserve this craft, it´s an outstanding institution of its kind in Europe. During three years of full-time education a profound skillset regarding stake-and-strand baskets, fine skeinwork, furniture building, basic design-, CAD- and woodwork can be acquired.
