I make small series of baskets for the bicycle rack using handcraft, willow and know-how. It is important to me to create high-quality and long-lasting products that become everyday companions.

  • The basket is made of peeled willow and will darken to a honey yellow over time. If it needs a wash because something has spilled, just put it under the shower, brush it off vigorously and then leave it to air dry .

     In general, the basket can get wet, but that's not a problem. It just shouldn't be exposed to the weather for long periods of time (as it's a natural material that will weather). So always take it inside and let it dry properly if necessary.

     The solid wood frame in the basket can also be brushed. It is of course oiled and can withstand this ;)

     The straps can be removed if necessary to wash them (gently!).

     !! It is also important that you regularly tighten the wing nuts to secure them. They loosen with use.

     And then the longevity of the product is like many things. The more carefully you handle the basket, the longer you will enjoy it. And the great thing about weaving is that it is repairable and can therefore accompany you for a really long time!
